제12회 서울 ODA국제 회의 2018.9.13 목/ 롯데호텔 서울

Invitation Message

On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), it is a great pleasure for us to invite you to the 12th Seoul ODA International Conference, which will take place on September 13th 2018 in Seoul.

The Seoul ODA International Conference has been a leading platform in which many actors in the field of international development cooperation gather and share their various perspectives on the contemporary agenda. Since the first conference in 2007, MOFA and KOICA have strived to take active measures to address the diverse issues put forth at this event and to accommodate to the transformative development cooperation environment.

Recently, in the field of international development, some have expressed that cross-cutting issues such as human rights and gender equality should be considered when striving to achieve each goal. In addition, “inclusive development” has become a greatly important part of the process while implementing SDGs on an international level. At this point, ODA should adopt the core values of Peace, Democracy and Human Rights in its development projects and consider merging these values to achieve SDGs. It is necessary to have a discourse on how ODA can contribute to making these values a reality.

For this reason, we are honored to hold the 12th Seoul ODA International Conference under the theme “Inclusive ODA for Global Peace, Democracy and Human Rights,” aiming to shed a light on the importance of the nexus between peace and development and the role of ODA in promoting democracy and human rights by utilizing partnerships with civil societies in development projects.

We would like to extend to you a warm invitation to join and share your valuable ideas with practitioners, scholars and professionals from all over the world. We believe that your participation enriches the discussion in the conference and contributes to formulating the new direction of development cooperation.

Thank you.
